RESTORATION SERVICE GUIDE

Flood & storm damage restoration in Southern California

Storm-related damage may involve exterior openings, wet interiors, contents and contaminated water. Explain how water entered, which spaces are affected and whether access has been cleared before arranging provider review.

What the scope can include

  • Affected building and contents assessment
  • Water removal and drying scope
  • Temporary protection requirements
  • Repairs and reconstruction coordination

Before your provider conversation

Distinguish rain entering through an opening from outside floodwater if known. CDC guidance warns that floodwater may contain sewage and other hazards. Do not enter unsafe areas to gather photos or measurements.

Compare the work—not only the total.

Compare the proposed sequence of stabilization, assessment, cleanup and rebuilding. Ask who handles roof or exterior repairs and what documentation is supplied when different trades are involved.

Is all storm water treated the same?

No assumption should be made from a form. The provider needs to assess water source, affected materials and site conditions.
